Second charge mortgages

A second charge mortgage is an additional loan secured against your property. It leaves your existing first mortgage in place, but creates a separate repayment commitment.

Is a second charge right for you?

It may be considered for home improvements or other borrowing needs. Your available equity, affordability, credit history and existing mortgage conditions affect what is possible.

Understand the alternatives and risks

Compare a second charge with remortgaging, further borrowing from your current lender and unsecured options where appropriate. Fees, interest rates and total repayable can differ substantially. Your home is at risk if you do not keep up repayments.

Mortgage availability and suitability depend on your individual circumstances. An initial consultation is no obligation; any applicable charges should be explained before you proceed.
